Cette année, le Super Bowl 2021 était diffusé sur la chaîne CBS aux Etats-Unis. Le show télévisé le plus suivi outre-atlantique était évidemment placé sous le signe du renouveau et de l’espoir en cette période de crise sanitaire liée à la COVID-19.
Outre le contexte sanitaire, c’est sous la gouvernance du nouveau président des USA Joe Biden que s’est tenu le 55ème Super Bowl de l’histoire de la NFL.
Autour de ce spectacle sportif qui devrait encore une fois rassembler une centaine de millions de téléspectateurs, les américains ont vibré pour les fameuses « publicités du Super Bowl ». Evènement dans l’évènement, le Super Bowl est depuis de nombreuses années un terrain d’expression plébiscité par les annonceurs. Humour et émotions ont une nouvelle fois alimentés les différents « commercials ».
Cette année encore, deux stratégies ont été déployées. D’un côté, il y a ceux qui ont dévoilé leur spot publicitaire quelques jours/heures avant la diffusion du « Big Game » et de l’autre, ceux qui ont attendu dimanche et le Super Bowl pour le révéler. Une stratégie souvent accompagnée d’un large storytelling en amont avec une phase de teasing.
Concernant les tarifs publicitaires, le groupe ViacomCBS proposait il y a quelques mois les 30 secondes de publicité aux alentours de 5,5 millions de dollars selon FOX (contre un montant moyen de 5,6M$ en 2020).
